October Update
Dussehra, Durga Puja, Diwali, Yom Kippur, Guy Fawkes Celebrations
I want to wish everyone who has been celebrating over the last month a very happy time and hope you managed to spend it with loved ones and family.
During October I joined in several celebrations, including a Durga Puja boat parade on the Thames and the Dussehra and Diwali celebrations at Pinner Temple.
Thank you everyone for your warm welcome and kindness!
Hatch End Litter Pick with the Scouts
Several times a year, Hatch End comes together to undertake litter picking. This October we managed to collect over 30 bags and a TV from around the ward. A massive thank you to everyone for their help!
As your local councillors, we are organising a big Community Clean Up on Sunday 17th November, 10am-noon, behind Pickwick Walk (opposite Kwick Fit). If you can help, even for 20 minutes, please do come join us.
Our New Park is Born: The Riverside Park
The new Hatch End Riverside Park at the Harrow Arts Centre opened in the summer and has been warmly welcomed by residents and families. The project has turned a disused field into what will one day (hopefully) be an Green Flag Award winning park.
Please do visit the park - it is just beside the Harrow Arts Centre parking, behind the swimming pool dance studio.
Phase One of the project saw a path be laid, the banks of the River Pinn opened up, planting several trees, seeding of a wildflower meadow, new benches and an outdoor performance stage for the Arts Centre to use.
Now we revisit the drawing board, speaking to local businesses and residents willing to sponsor other amenities to be added to the park in coming months.
I said at a site visit after works were completed:
“This project almost never happened! But when I was elected in 2022 one of the first tasks was to find the budget for this. To work with the Council Officers, Hatch End Association and the Arts Centre to make this a reality. Now it is real, you can see it, visit it. This is what local government is all about. From the first shovel below to the first event at the park, we're delivering for residents!”
Thank you for reading!
If I can ever be of assistance please get in touch.
