March Update
The year continues to be a busy one as the evenings get brighter and the rain keeps falling.
Saving the Free Parking at Morrisons
They say a week is a long time in politics! In just a few days we stopped Morrisons, Hatch End from introducing parking charges after 2 hours that would spell the end of a decades old agreement allowing Harrow Arts Centre users to park at Morrisons as an overflow.
Thank you to the thousands of residents that signed my petition to stop Morrisons - it proved pivotal in showing them how mistaken their proposals were.
I am delighted that an agreement has been reached between Morrisons and the Council which will ensure users of the Harrow Arts Centre are not charged after just a couple of hours, meaning users can enjoy shows, attend classes and can continue to use the Morrisons car park as an overflow.

Supporting Susan Hall to become the next Mayor of London
As many will know by now, our own Hatch End councillor, Susan Hall, is running to be the Mayor of London. Having previously been Leader of Harrow Council and Leader of the Conservatives on the London Assembly, I cannot think of anyone more qualified to replace Sadiq Khan and save London.
Susan’s 5 point plan for London is clear:
- Get a grip on crime. Make our streets safe.
- Scrap the ULEZ expansion.
- End Sadiq Khan’s war on London’s motorists.
- Stop Sadiq Khan’s inappropriate tower blocks. Build family homes.
- Make London a cleaner and greener city.
And you can find all the details via susan.london/plan
This election will be neck-and-neck! The voting system has changed to first-past-the-post meaning Susan Hall is the only candidate who can beat Sadiq Khan. Please make sure you use your vote to support Susan and give London that fresh start with a Mayor who will actually listen to us.
AND REMEMBER: You must bring photo ID to the polls on May 2nd!
A New Park is Born: Hatch End Riverside Park
Initial works are now completed at our new Hatch End Riverside Park at the Harrow Arts Centre. The project turns a disused field into what will one day (hopefully) be an green flag award park.
Phase one of the project saw a path be laid, the banks of the river opened up, planting dozens of trees, a wildflower meadow, benches and an outdoor performance stage for the Arts Centre to use.
Now we revisit the drawing board, speaking to local businesses and residents willing to sponsor other amenities to be added to the park in coming months.
As a local Hatch End councillor, I said at a site visit after works were completed:
“This project almost never happened! But when I was elected in 2022 one of the first tasks was to find the budget for this. To work with the Council Officers, Hatch End Association and the Arts Centre to make this a reality. Now it is real, you can see it, visit it. This is what local government is all about. Delivering for residents!”
